(1) Eighty one patients were multiparous, 9 had one child and 3 were primipara .(2) Ms Reynolds, a 25 year old woman, primiparous with one miscarriage, presented to her general practitioner when eight weeks pregnant complaining of nausea and vomiting.(3) Malaria is an important environmental factor which reduces fetal growth in primiparae more than multiparae living under holoendemic conditions for malaria.(4) Catch-up growth between zero and two years was also related to low maternal birth weight and primiparous pregnancy, and there was a trend towards more mothers who admitted to smoking in pregnancy.(5) Caesarean sections were more common among wealthy and educated women, those with more antenatal attendance, primiparous women and, paradoxically, those with a lower gestational risk.(6) While it is not clear what the ideal rate of episiotomy might be for primiparous and nulliparous women, in Sweden 9% of primiparous women have episiotomies.(7) We restricted the analysis to primiparae (73.5% of whom reported no previous pregnancies) because death of a previous baby may influence both the decision to conceive again and its outcome.(8) The caesarean rate for intended home births was 8.3% among primiparous women and 1.6% among multiparous women.(9) Puerperal insanity proper comes on within one month of parturition; and, like the insanity of pregnancy, occurs most often in primiparae .(10) There were no differences in age, gestational age, ratio of primiparae to pluriparae, body weight, or height between the treatment and control groups.
